Meanwhile, Stefan has finally mysteriously escaped the safe and no one knows who released him or why. So, everyone is searching for him in hopes that they will find him and of course, Katherine, trying to ruin Elena's life because that Elena has the happiness that Katherine deserves but Elena has surprisingly forced the cure down her throat, making her a human again, slowly dying unless she can find some way to become a vampire again.
Stefan has decided to move on
Falling in love has proven to be toxic for Stefan in the many decades he’s lived for. During his short-lived life as a human, Stefan was taken aback when a striking young woman arrived to stay in their family home. Claiming to be an orphan from Atlanta, Charlotte Bourne seemed sweet, loyal and honest in the first few weeks he got to know her. The two drew closer and Stefan became helplessly in love with her; or so he thought. When his older brother and best friend Damon returned home from war, it wasn’t long before their picture-perfect lives started falling apart. Damon too fell for the charms of Miss Bourne and in time, both brothers were sharing her affections. Charlotte claimed she couldn’t choose, insisting she loved both boys equally. She was selfish and entitled, but something was preventing Stefan from knowing what she was really like; as though he was blinded by the sudden love he had for her. However, it was after a passionate night together that Stefan discovered her true nature. Waking up with a bloody wound on his neck was only the start, and with the events of Charlotte feeding from him slowly returning to his memory, Stefan wanted nothing more than to get away from her. It was then that she confessed to being a vampire. Overwhelmed by the revelation, she later compelled Stefan to not be afraid and to accept her for what she truly was. Forced to endure what she’d obliged, Stefan grew familiar to her real identity and was no longer feeling any emotions of fear or repent.
Soon, the younger Salvatore had a meeting with his father and fearing for Charlotte’s life, he accidentally revealed what she was. Inevitably, the town’s hunters captured her. Feeling utter guilt over being responsible for her capture, Stefan forced Damon into helping him rescue Charlotte. However, their attempt was a failure and resulted in their own deaths. Both boys later awakened to find they weren’t completely dead, but were in transition after being shot with Charlotte’s blood in their systems. The first change Stefan noticed was his heightened senses; everything around him was a blur. But what he felt more than anything was a new hunger in him; a starvation that urged him to feed. He made a decision to find his father and confront him about everything, though it ended with Stefan’s need for blood becoming too strong that he eventually fed off of him and killed him. The only family he had left was his brother Damon, who had decided he didn’t want to be a vampire without Charlotte by his side. But Stefan couldn’t lead an eternal life without him; therefore, he forced Damon to feed on a young woman. Ever since, their bond just hasn’t been the same. Damon promised Stefan everlasting misery and walked out on him, leaving Stefan alone with his bloodlust. Over the century, it’s something he’s struggled with immensely. He’s returned to Beacon Falls for a fresh start but with Damon’s arrival, a new beginning is going to be much harder to achieve.
Damon Salvatore → Stefan’s doesn’t want to act surprised to see Damon’s followed him back to Beacon Falls, but he is. He honestly believed that after so many years of not seeing one another that Damon would be over their past. However, it seems as though Damon’s promise to give Stefan an eternity of misery is only just beginning. There’s only so much Stefan will be able to avoid, but with the ‘animal attacks’ occurring all over town, he’s the only one that can stop his brother before it’s too late.
Lexi Branson → There’s so much Stefan still feels he owes Lexi for. She’s the one that’s helped him find his way when he’d lost who he is, or became a ‘ripper’, as Lexi referred to it as. She’s his best friend, and to find her in town just as he’s returned isn’t much of a surprise. The two have always caught up with one another over the decades, never going completely out of contact. Now she’s back in his life, Stefan intends to welcome her into his home with welcome arms. That’s if she hasn’t already found a place to stay.
Known for her insecurities, Caroline Forbes has made a name for herself by being on every school committee; there wasn’t a party that went unplanned, a school dance that went undecorated or unattended. If anything, the young girl busied herself with extracurriculars, including heading the cheerleading squad. On top of being determined, just like her mother, Caroline always displays a strong degree of leadership when dealing with school things and her fellow classmates, Caroline is often seen as an overachiever. In school, no surname was needed to talk about the blonde for everyone knew exactly who they were talking about. However, the surname Forbes was pretty known around town. With her mother as one the town’s renowned deputies and part of the town council, her name possesses a considerable amount of power in the small town of Beacon Falls. Even though her life began just like any other, the outcome was surely different from any other TV show she has ever seen. Even though divorced parents was a semi-normal thing, the reason behind her parents’ divorce was surely something that people don’t hear about every day. Her life was perfect up until her father woke up and realized that he was gay, soon divorcing Caroline’s mom and taking off with his boyfriend. Ever since then, Caroline hasn’t seen much of her dad and while she puts on a strong face, there’s a lot of hurting she’s hiding behind that smiling facade.
Despite having a confident exterior and being high on the social ladder, Caroline is also a bit neurotic, extremely insecure and competitive when it comes to boys, especially against her dear friend Elena Gilbert. Often comparing herself to her brunette friend, Caroline always complains about not being able to say the right thing, often ending in thinking she could never make a guy fall in love with her like Elena does. Caroline feels like she’s Elena’s shadow and every day she sees herself wanting to be the one to overshadow Elena instead. This particular feeling against her friend makes Caroline’s list of insecurities grow, thinking she’s never good enough for any guy to want her. In the beginning of her school year, everything in her life had changed again, just like they had when she was younger and her father left, planting all these questions in the back of the blonde’s mind. Elena’s parents died, Bonnie has been talking gibberish and the two of them have been closer to each other more now than ever. The two of them would always do things together, even during the summer. All of that only makes Caroline feel like the third wheel and, as a result, adds one more thing to the big pile of things Elena is better at than her. Always battling her insecurities and her competitive nature towards Elena, Caroline has been trying to excel herself at everything she’s part of, trying to beat Elena at something.
