When Elena was a human, she was a strong, sweet and caring person who was ready to sacrifice her life for her friends and family. When she was turned by an terrible accident, every emotion Elena had amplified and that made her scared about feeding. And after the loss of another family member she turned her emotions off,what sent her on a killing spree. Without caring about anything and anyone, she realizes her mistakes after another friend almost dies. Now when her humanity is back on and she feels everything again, she is trying to understand what will happen next.

Elena was born in Mystic Falls to Grayson and Miranda Gilbert. Or that was what she thought. Elena grew up having a younger brother named Jeremy; her childhood was peaceful. When she was little she often played in her father's office; now that memory is ruined.
When Elena was eighteen, she got into an accident where her parents died. She survived thanks to a miracle. But as Elena found out soon enough that it wasn't a miracle that saved her that night - it was Stefan Salvatore, a vampire. And the story wasn't that simple for her either. Elena was a doppelganger for a woman named Katherine who was Stefan's former lover.
Soon after it was revealed that Elena was actually adopted and her real parents were her uncle and a woman named Isobel, who was a vampire too. Long story short, thanks to Elena's real mother Katherine returned and brought an ancient vampire with her, a vampire who was destined to kill the new doppelganger - Elena.
The ancient vampire named Klaus tried to kill Elena in the ritual,but was saved by her real father John. But when Damon - Stefan's brother - was dying from the werewolf bite, offered his services to Klaus in the exchange of his brother's life.
After all summer long of searching for Stefan, Elena and Damon grew closer and the girl started to feel somethings for him. But as Stefan returned with Klaus and the rest of his family, things got complicated,because Elena was supposed to be dead.
Everything Klaus and her family did in Mystic Falls led to Elena drowning and becoming a vampire.
After Elena was turned, she had some complications first with digesting blood, but finally adjusted with human blood, when Damon told her to. After all she was sired to him for a while,until he told her to shut her emotions off.
After that Elena was an emotionless and quite careless person. She didn't care about anything or anyone, the only thing she wanted was the Cure, just to get it before the two Salvatores, because if they had it, they might have forced it into her in some way. Elena teamed up with Rebekah as they searched for Katherine, and were lucky enough to find her.
But after she gained her memory back and realized what she had done during that time, she understood where she had to channel all that hate - she had to kill Katherine. After Graduation, when she spotted her, they fought and Elena showed the cure down her throat. Making the most manipulative and bitchy vampire a human again, is a great punishment.

The clock stroke twelve as the doe eyed brunette walked quietly towards the Salvatore House. She had parked far, further than she normally does, and now she was just walking through the cold and damp grass, hoping that she was alone in the grandiose building just for this once. It seemed like she was having a lucky day, because the lights weren't on, even the porch light,what was on 24/7, wasn't glowing it's usual neon glow,but sitting in complete darkness. The brunette furrowed her brow,and thanked god that she had enhanced vision. Without it she wouldn't be able to see a thing. As she got closer to the front door, suspicion grew inside of her like a balloon what was filed with air. She halted and turned, to look back to her car. It seemed like she had walked for ages. Sighing, she flashed towards the door, pulled it open and took two steps inside. "Damon? Stefan?" she called out and arched a brow hoping to hear a movement from the house what seemed like a haunted mansion right now, "Anyone home?". Without a reply she made her way towards the living room, and poured herself a glass of bourbon. Drink she had now gotten used to. She tried the switch to the lights, but nothing. "Must be a power outage" she muttered and took a seat on one of the sofas, now hoping that someone would come soon. [/div]
